Sword Type XII
A broad blade usually quite flat with a fuller or often multiple fullers, that run two thirds to threequarters the length of the blade. Longer fullers would tend to indicate typeX. The grip tends to be slightly longer than the previous types, about 4.5 inches. The pommels are most commonly wheel types,(Type I), though more variety is seen then the previous types as well. Crossguards are most often short and straight (though some variety is seen here as well). The art evidence shows a time frame with examples clearly at the beginning of the 13th Century and many depictions through 1350 at least.
