Creative Ways to Give to The Oakeshott Institute

There is more than one way for you to contribute to the success of The Oakeshott Institute. Here are some alternative ways to help us reach our goals:

Got Mail?- A simple yet essential component to our success is spreading the word about our new facility. Tell a friend about The Oakeshott Institute and our plans to create an arms and armor museum. Years ago it took days to deliver a message from one village to another. Nowadays - it's not so hard. Send an e-mail about our mail - i.e. "armor made of metal links or plates". It's fun, it's easy, and it's educational.

Lower a Drawbridge - Do you know someone interested in history, creative educational opportunities, supporting the arts, or looking for a place for their small music group to perform? Be the bridge that connects them to our Institute where all of these interests are found under one roof. We need your help to draw people to us and act as a bridge to our programs.

Camp it Up - Let parents know about our new summer day camps. Get kids interested in history at an early age. Refer them to our "Knight for a Day" summer camps where we use fun activities to teach kids about the Age of Chivalry and medieval knights and ladies.

Make It A Double - Your employer may match your financial gift or volunteer time with a contribution. Check with your human resources personnel to find out if you can double the impact of your gift through your employee benefit program.

Scrub 'n Buff - Join us for one of our "Scrub 'n Buff" events. Throughout the renovation we will need help with a variety of chores to spruce up the building - like cleaning, painting, hauling rubbish, or doing yard work. Get the added benefit of accomplishing a needed task, and playing an integral role in establishing a unique historical museum.

Make Someone Happy - Is your grandchild crazy about knights? Did you meet your boyfriend at a Renaissance Fair? Do you know someone who loves fencing, history, or pines for the long lost days of chivalrous behavior? Send them a gift membership to The Oakeshott Institute. They'll think you're the best thing since turkey legs on a stick!

Peel a Pew - Strip paint off a pew and help turn our sanctuary into a great new performance art space. Your name will be permanently displayed on the pew you restore.

In-kind Contributions - As a new facility we need many items to help us make a beautiful and functional new space. Review our in-kind list and donate an item, or help us obtain it from someone you know.
